SEAPOOL describe themselves as a Japanese hardcore nostalgic experimental grunge punk band. Their music is heavily inspired by 90s era grunge, alternative and punk with Nirvana and Sonic Youth being the most noticeable influences. Sinister yet lush guitar tones similar to Billy Corgan’s phaser-effect heavy riffs and swirly post-rock/shoegaze (Ride; Coaltar of the Deepers) also figure prominently in the mix. But despite the music being fairly derivative, the diverse combination of influences has enough creative twists and enough of SEAPOOL’S own personality to inexplicably give them a uniquely fresh sound.@nextmusicfromtokyo.com
