Since releasing their 2017 debut EP, softsurf has emerged as one of the faces of the Nagoya shoegaze scene. After a lengthy hiatus, the band is back in 2021 with the release of its second EP, "Returning Wave" on DREAMWAVES RECORDS.
Following their debut, "Into the Dream", softsurf became affectionately known as Japan's answer to Slowdive due to their thick billowy sound. "Returning Wave" still showcases their tendency toward that style of shoegaze, while offering a more diverse listening experience by tapping into something of a Pains-esque pop-driven sound or veering into more whimsical dream pop.
