Monogem – Wild

Monogem – Wild
LA electro-pop songstress Monogem is back with a new compelling track titled Wild. The track is pervaded by a pleasant ’80s vibe, while pounding electronic drums and shimmering synths create the glossy soundscape over which MONOGEM’s vocals are free to shine and remind us her mantra: “Same as I ever was, I do it all because, life’s too short to not live wild.” Listen below.

MONOGEM is the moniker under which singer and songwriter Jen Hirsh creates dreamy, disco-tinged, California-pool-party tunes, finished with the sweet aftertaste of funk and soul. Along with the sonic savvy of producer and songwriter Scott Smith, MONOGEM launches the listener into an intoxicating journey of strong vocals, dizzying harmonies, and dance-ready synths. In the cosmos, a Monogem Ring is a supernova remnant, the leftover glow from an exploded star. One of the largest monogem rings in the universe is located near the Gemini and Cancer constellations. Born in late June, Jen is on the cusp of Gemini-Cancer, and thus, Monogem rang true and stuck.

MONOGEM’s highly anticipated, self-titled debut EP was exclusively premiered by Interview Magazine on February 2, 2015 with insightful commentary: “The California native's sound is heavy in electro-pop, yet her voice resonates with the richness of classic soul and jazz.” The EP is comprised of buzzing singles that have attracted major tastemakers like Noisey (VICE), NYLON, and Elle Magazine as well as well-respected outlets in the blogosphere such as Hype Machine, Indie Shuffle, Hillydilly, and Earmilk. Like their astral namesake, this latest EP is filled with glittering melodies and heartrending bursts of sentiment and soul.

In October of 2015, Monogem’s dreamy, beat-laden “Wait and See” Remix EP was released. "Wait and See" (Deep Chills Remix) was featured prominently in notable Spotify Playlists in November, including “New Music Friday” and “Viral Hits,” as well as placing #6 on United States Viral 50 and #9 on Global Viral 50. The girlboss anthem “Gone,” Monogem’s most recent release, charted #2 on Hype Machine's Most Popular Tracks for 4 consecutive days.

In April 2016, “Take It Slow,” Monogem’s most recent single was released via The Watch List, a new exclusive singles label formed out of a partnership between The Fader and CONNECT/Reverbnation. Seething with irresistible sensuality, “Take It Slow” puts into words and music an impossible, fleeting love, so heightened and electric that you want to consume it whole and yet take it slow, all at once. A full length album is in the works and is set for release in early 2017.
