This is a classic hard bop/jazz album recorded on December 2, 1955, at Van Gelder Studio in Hackensack, New Jersey. It was produced by Bob Weinstock and engineered by Rudy Van Gelder. 

It was Rollins’ first album as a leader after a period of seclusion in Chicago and his return to the scene (he had joined the Clifford Brown/Max Roach quintet). The session features strong hard bop performances and is often highly regarded—some fans and writers place it on par with his landmark Saxophone Colossus.
