The Mu-Tones release their debut single 'Slab City Records' on the 30th of June 2018 through Ugly Man Records. Supported by a launch show at Jimmy's Northern Quarter in Manchester on the same night!

Manchester trio The Mu-Tones are a noisy garage pop band forged of three talents and a desire for direct communication, led by former Marion guitarist/songwriter Anthony Grantham and joined by Alex Redhead (bass) formerly of Amplifier and Peter Gray (drums) who used to play with Letters to Fiesta. The Mu-Tones manifesto is direct and to the point: short sharp songs crammed full of loud, angry, weird magic. Anthony says "Some of them are about how I feel, and some of them show how I feel without making a lot of sense"

Their debut single 'Slab City Records' is a bruising distillation of the Mu-Tones sound, filthy basslines, scorched riffing and railroading drums, it's flying across the rails into a sizzling crescendo, think The Pixies or Husker Du reassembled through Grantham's imagination. This urgent noise pop is laced with an insurgent ode to a forgotten area of the US: "Its an area in America not even on the map, run by solar power, apparently they have gigs on there, it's something I'd love to do." says Grantham "Also it DOES sound like the sort of thing you'd hear Lux Interior saying, which is kind of what the second verse is about."

Anthony Grantham was the guitarist and one of the songwriters in revered 1990s band Marion until they disbanded "When I left we had stopped writing, at least together, and writing has always been a great joy of mine"

Ugly Man Records was established in 1986 with the début release of Wonderful Life, by Liverpool band Black. Over the next 26 years they have had the good fortune to release débuts by Elbow, I am Kloot and Josephine Oniyama. They have published football fanzines and books by Frank Sidebottom. Best of all, they are still here now releasing great music and finding even more emerging talent.

Vocalist/guitarist Remi Matsuo (born December 7, 1991) and guitarist Hiroki Kamemoto (August 24, 1990) organized this rock unit.

Remi Matsuo was attending high school in Nagano prefecture in 2007 when she put together GLIM SPANKY to play at a school festival. Later, Kamemoto, an upperclassman of Matsuo’s from the same high school, joined the group. Other members left the band to continue their education, and for other reasons, and the current configuration was formed.

After the band made it to the finals of the Senko Riot band contest, known as a gateway to success for teenage bands in Japan, and suddenly received a great deal of attention from the music industry, they made the move to Tokyo. After releasing the mini album MUSIC FREAK in 2013 from an independent label, they made their major debut in 2014 from Universal Music’s Virgin Music label with the mini album SHOSO [Impatience]. Later, the band began showing signs of long-selling potential, as Remi Matsuo’s cover of Janis Joplin’s MOVE OVER became much talked about when it was used for a television commercial for the Suzuki Wagon R Stingray, and the band’s first album, SUNRISE JOURNEY, released on July 22, 2015, reached #3 on the iTunes Rock Album Ranking. This year, the band performed on the Red Marquee stage for the first time at the Fuji Rock Festival, Japan’s largest rock festival, and even though it was a morning performance, the band rocked a large crowd that filled the venue.

The band’s distinctive qualities are Matsuo’s bluesy and powerful vocals, and Kamemoto’s commanding presence on the guitar. While paying homage to the golden age of authentic rock, their collection of songs infused with a youthful essence and teeming with originality have received high praise from many of Japan’s top musicians and celebrated cultural personalities.

Satellite Citi are an alt-rock two piece band hailing from Los Angeles, California. Anna Gevorkian (vocals/drums) and Shaunt Sulahian (guitars/backing vocals) are successful in pushing forth elements of multiple genres to create a truly unique and dynamic realm of sound. Combining Gevorkian’s melodic vocals and funk rock drumming style with Sulahian’s dynamic guitars and background in heavy metal, Satellite Citi resurrect the rock genre with a fresh and modern delivery.

Formed in 2015, the name Satellite Citi derived from the notion of a city where people communicate thoughts through their satellite minds. After working on previous solo projects, the duo realized their future of collaborating together. They teamed up with famed rock producer, Brad Wood (Placebo, Smashing Pumpkins) in creating their upcoming debut EP, Negative Space. It is inspired by topics which motivate them lyrically, from societal issues and corruption of politics, to battling internal demons and struggling to find solace. Gevorkian reveals, “the underlying theme in our music would be overcoming negative energy, hence the EP title, Negative Space. We want our music to encourage people to stand up when they’ve fallen”. Despite Negative Space being a raw, rock and roll EP filled with relentless energy and growling guitars, it thematically features sensitive and introspective subject matters.
Leading single ‘Undead’ showcases the band’s use of composing music to bring people together and help those in a time of need. The inspiring music video for this single, directed by Powell Robinson and Patrick Young, follows a despondent LGBTQ youth after they’ve been kicked out of their home and constantly harassed by their peers. The video takes an unexpected turn and shows Satellite Citi joining forces with the youth and defeating every metaphor in their path, united as a team. With memorable melodies and a contagious chorus, ‘Undead’ hits listeners with a punch of energy and exudes just the right amount of edge. It’s a relentless song, shimmering with intensity.
