Prune Deer - Return ft. Haru NEMURI (Official Music Video)
Prune Deer is a Hong Kong instrumental-rock band that consisting of Nature (guitarist), S.F. Tang (guitarist), Jerry Sham (bassist) and Kwan Shing (drummer). The music of Prune Deer are no longer bounded by a single genre, as they begin to create an unique style of their own.
The Neon Judgement is a Belgian New Wave band, formed in Leuven in 1981 by Dirk Da Davo (keyboards/vocalist) and TB Frank (guitarist/vocalist). These Belgian musicians have often been considered the pioneers of Electronic Body Music (EBM), together with another Belgian band Front 242. The high-tech genre from the early 80´s, combining industrial and electro music, from which later originated new beat and techno.
Dirk Da Davo and TB Frank veered between minimalistic industrial drones and odd, new waveish synth pop and dance music, underlain by cold, mechanical rhythms. Their initial music is aggressive, danceable and dominated by synthesizers and drum-machines. A bit later on in their career the guitar also gets a prominent place in their music.
Since the early eighties, TB Frank and Dirk Da Davo have been the creative forces that have made The Neon Judgement a household name in circles where musical narrow-mindedness is not considered a bonus. Emerging vibrant and violent from the small town Leuven near Brussels, in the early eighties, they started to build up their own sound.
Their early work combined low-fi technology and emotional sincerity to create a sound both warm and alienating. Going from strength to strength, they released a string of haunting albums that displayed an adventurous variety of songs, where downright industrial drones stood side by side with twisted love songs and campfire ditties from hell.
Cold war propaganda, the installation of Reagan’s cruise missiles, death throes of the steel industry… For young hopefuls with the sheer audacity to be out of a job, Belgium in the early eighties is shrouded in a sombre mist. For TB Frank and Dirk Da Davo, however, this dreary background turns out to be an invaluable source of inspiration: for The Neon Judgement, all it takes to become one of the most relevant bands of its timeframe, is a minimum of instruments and a surplus of anger and frustration to vent. Motorik beats from primitive drum machines bounce against TB’s jerky guitar riffs, while Da Davo forces analog grunts and sweeps from his bad-tempered synths. Lyrics are sparse, and are shrieked or spat out like slogans of a restless heart. Songs are called ‘Factory Walk’, ‘TV Treated’, ‘Too Cold To Breathe’ or ‘Concrete’, and while scoring the soundtrack to this social ice age, the band also provides the foundations of a number of electro genres to come.
Later, TNJ’s output will become less glacial and more melodic, in spite of their ever present tendencies to experiment with form and technology. Musically, moods – be it a Johnny Cash country twang or a Serge Gainsbourg cafard – may colour the overall atmosphere, but the main building blocks remain: anger, love, beats, and songs that are written because they have to be. When TB Frank and Dirk Da Davo decide to take a sabbatical in 1999, it’s exactly that feeling of necessity that keeps on smouldering in the hearts of the many fans they’ve made along the way. Fans like Dave Clarke, Tiga or the Hacker, who’ve meanwhile become pivotal figures themselves in an ever expanding electro scene. But respect and kudos don’t limit themselves to a small incrowd: when the band take to the stage of the Ancienne Belgique in September 2007, the place is packed to capacity…
The Neon Judgement will continue to give art terrorism a good name, finding new ways of marrying noise and beauty, machines and magic. This aggressive heart keeps on beating.
Light up a legend!

Tsushimamire is an alt-legendary Japanese all-girl band formed in 1999, featuring Mari (guitar, lead vocals), Yayoi (bass, background vocals), and recent addition Maiko (drums, background vocals), who has admirably stepped in to take the place of original band drummer Mizue. This is a fascinating and creative group which has mesmerized audiences around the world for years with its versatility (ranging from hard, thrashing punk sounds to interesting and innovative rock/art numbers). Mari's underground songwriting is brilliant, touching on subjects of social convention, rebellion, love, anxiety, and the power of the imagination, while her vocals excel in expressiveness, ranging from child-like innocence, to cries of despair. Yayoi keeps a wicked beat, and moves with the grace of a dancer/warrior/superhero, contributing to a live show that is simultaneously theatrical and earnest: certain to delight alt-rock fans and lovers of the Japanese underground wherever they may be found!
Over a period of 18 years, Tsushimamire has released 13 albums and given about 1800 shows all over the world. They have an inventory of approximately 150 original songs, featuring a wide variety of themes and styles. Their music has sometimes been used by TV shows, movies, and games.
Kneeling at the feet of 90’s-era heroes like Pixies and The Breeders, Melbourne-based rockers IV League still manage to make music that not only draws from their influences, but also creates something that is refreshingly unique. It’s undeniable there’s something special within the vocal stylings of front woman Bella Venutti, simultaneously solid as a rock and sweet as candy. It’s with this versatile outlook to making music that she and her musical partner in crime - Lachie Gilmour (guitars) - strive to meet the grunge ferocity with low key and tender moments with a constant focus on perfect pop vocal hooks.

With their leanings towards the swirlier side of production, a tidy trio of singles have been released, much to the joy of indie-music lovers the world over, but it was their third and most recent - ‘Change My Mind’ - that has served them best. Australian national youth broadcaster triple j added it immediately to their playlist and gifted them a spot at Melbourne’s St Jerome’s Laneway Festival early in 2017 via their Unearthed platform. The rest of the year saw the band race around the country in record time with kindred spirits Ali Barter and Bec Sandridge and end the year with a bang at Falls Festival in Lorne. In 2018, as they bury themselves in the studio with producer Malcolm Besley (The Creases, City Calm Down), it’s clear that IV League are poised to deliver on the consistent hype that surrounds their collegiate name
Third album from London post punk trio Witching Waves! Recorded live to tape over 2 days at Sound Savers, this new record sounds authentic, alive, and arguably their most confident album to date.

The London trio Witching Waves released their first cassette, First Tape, in 2013. Drummer/vocalist Emma Wigham, bassist Ed Shellard, and guitarist/vocalist Mark Jasper (who also helps runs Sound Savers recording studio) concocted a loud, energetic indie rock sound driven by fierce guitars and Wigham's enthusiastic bashing. The group next released a split tape of covers with fellow Londoners As Ondas, then in late 2014 delivered their first album for the Soft Power label. Titled Fear of Falling Down, the record showed a heavy Vaselines influence and was produced by Jasper at Sound Savers. The group spent the next year playing shows and recording, releasing only a split cassette EP with the band Rattle late in 2015. Meanwhile, U.S. label Happy Happy Birthday to Me picked up Witching Waves, and their next album was a co-release between them and Soft Power. Recorded again by Jasper, the tougher-sounding Crystal Cafe was released in early 2016. ~ Tim Sendra, Rovi

Atlanta-based singer/songwriter Mattiel Brown crafts sunbaked rock & roll that harks back to the brazen sound of the early 2000s, preferring direct lyrics and melodic hooks over drawn-out compositions. Brown's music has modern production values but feels a touch retro, with a dash of country music and a rough-around-the-edges vibe similar to early White Stripes. Her 2017 eponymous debut helped capture that spirit by recording it live in the studio, reflecting the energy from the musicians in the room, while the 2018 follow-up, the six-song Customer Copy, reaffirmed her gift for creating strong and lively '60s-influenced pop/rock.
Brown spent much of her early life growing up on a farm in Georgia, where she would learn how to play guitar and ride horses, among other daily tasks that come with farm life. Eventually she moved to Atlanta, where she got a job working for Mailchimp as a designer and illustrator. Soon after, Brown met Randy Michael and Jonah Swilley, and bonded with them over their taste in music. Eventually she sent them some demos; they were impressed by her voice and asked her to perform live with their band Black Linen. Michael and Swilley were also the co-owners of a songwriting and production team named InCrowd, and when Brown put forward the idea of fronting her own musical act they were keen to help. By 2017, their rough concepts had turned into fully fledged songs, leading to nine months of recording with a full in-house band. InCrowd also had connections with Burger Records, whose execs were impressed by Mattiel's sound, and signed her for the release of her eponymous debut in late 2017. Heavenly Recording struck a deal to release the album in the U.K. and Europe, where it arrived in July 2018. Mattiel toured in support of the release, including a handful of dates opening for Portugal. The Man and appearances at several major European festivals. In August 2018, Mattiel returned to the studio with Michael and Swilley to record a set of fresh songs. The result was a six-song EP, Customer Copy, released in December 2018. ~ Liam Martin, Rovi

Lyrics:
I just hallucinated, saw David Bowie in my bath
At least I know I’m going crazy
But I felt magic I never knew I had
Now I feel like I’m getting closer
To something that will comfort but kill
So they give me Lithium
To stop me from falling underneath
Chorus:
Mr Starman, put me back together again
Mr Startman, put me back together again
I fall together everytime I see you
I got lucky your stars they cut me deep
Verse:
Go ahead put it all in boxes
Pick me up, prescribe and divide
But two halves don’t feel like whole now
The joker will always be part of my deck of cards
So you made up my mind, to piece it back together
I did what I had to, doctors are so unkind
Chorus:
I fall together everytime I see you
I got lucky your stars they cut me deep
Please don’t leave now I’m getting closer
To something unreal that finally feels free
Mr Starman, put me back together again, Mr Startman, put me back together again
JuliaWhy? make ethereal punk just the way it should be – unabashedly honest and true to their own vision.
Fronted by songwriter and bassist Julia Wylie, with Caleb Jacobs on guitar and Sarah Fenn (aka Le Pie) on drums, Sydney’s JuliaWhy? reminisce with the pop grunge moments of Hole and Sonic Youth.
JuliaWhy? has toured extensively throughout Australia and Canada, won triple j Unearthed and played alongside some of their favourites including Waxahatchee, Hinds, Hatchie and Major Leagues.
The enduring quality of JuliaWhy? is unpretentious, clever and honest songwriting that is both beautiful and brutal. Wylie manages to write songs worth crying over and dancing to, while maintaining a political, anti-patriarchal message throughout. Julia draws inspiration from the stars, space and time; the mind and it’s ability to lift us up and take us down; the world - it’s pain and beauty.
JuliaWhy? is gearing up to release their second album titled ‘Hysteria!’ in May 2019.
Originally released on CD only on October 2nd 2014 by Electric Muse records of South Korea.

From the album "Sweet Candy Power" to be released June 6th, 2019 on Good Charamel Records in Europe and North America and P Vine Records in Japan.
During the early-'90s alternative wave, quirky Japanese indie rock trio Shonen Knife made major fans out of alt-rock's elite (Sonic Youth, Nirvana, and Redd Kross, among others) and built a solid worldwide cult following with their Ramones-meets-Beatles brand of sticky-sweet punk-pop. Following their early-'80s rise as indie upstarts, they signed to the majors for the release of 1992's breakthrough Let's Knife. With vocalist Naoko Yamano at the core, four albums were issued with the founding trio, before the first of many lineup shuffles. The band's early-2000s output included 2003's Candy Rock and 2005's Genki Shock! Cementing their veteran status in the 2010s, Yamano kept the band going, their endearing charm and no-nonsense punk bursts packing efforts such as 2011's Osaka Ramones and 20th album, 2016's Adventure.
Formed by Michie Nakatani (vocals, bass), Naoko Yamano (vocals, guitar), and Atsuko Yamano (drums), Shonen Knife started in December 1981 in their hometown of Osaka, Japan, where all three members were working as office clerks. The band played its first real show in March of the following year. Soon after, they began issuing albums in Japan, including 1982's cassette-only release Minna Tanoshiku (English translation: Everybody Happy?), 1983's Burning Farm, 1984's Yama No Attchan, and 1986's Pretty Little Baka Guy (the latter of which was reissued with extra tracks four years later, under the title Pretty Little Baka Guy/Live in Japan). Although their records were only available in the U.S. via import, Shonen Knife struck a chord with the underground with a track that appeared on the Sub Pop 100 compilation in 1986. In 1989, a collection of alternative bands even recorded renditions of their favorite Shonen Knife songs for the tribute album Every Band Has a Shonen Knife Who Loves Them.
The first Shonen Knife release to be issued outside of Japan was a 1990 self-titled compilation that featured the entire Burning Farm and Yama No Attchan albums, as well as three tracks that were only previously available on the obscure Japanese comp Aura Music. Shortly thereafter, the group began touring America on a somewhat regular basis, supporting its 1991 release 712 with some dates opening for Nirvana just prior to the runaway success of Cobain and company's now-classic Nevermind album. Now the hip band to name-drop, Shonen Knife signed their first major U.S. recording contract with Capitol, resulting in the release of one of their finest (and best-known) albums, 1992's Let's Knife. A year later, the group switched to the Virgin label, issuing Rock Animals, which would spawn a semi-popular MTV video with "Tomato Head" (even landing a spot on the network's popular animated series Beavis & Butthead).
In 1994 the trio performed as part of the traveling alternative rock festival Lollapalooza and contributed a cover of "Top of the World" to the Carpenters tribute album If I Were a Carpenter, while Virgin issued an 18-track collection of rare tracks, Birds & the B-Sides, in 1996. Although they were able to greatly expand their U.S. fan base, Shonen Knife never obtained the breakthrough success that was expected by many, resulting in the group returning to the independents and issuing such further releases as 1997's Brand New Knife, 1998's Happy Hour, and the 2000 Japan-only release Strawberry Sound (which featured the band's revamped lineup of Atsuko Yamano on bass and Mana Nishiura, who joined Shonen Knife after Nakatani left in 1999, on drums).
Vocalist Naoko Yamano was the only original member during the mid- to late 2000s, but even after 20-plus years and difficulties maintaining a consistent lineup, the band showed no signs of slowing. In 2005, Oglio reissued the band's first four albums, and the band released Genki Shock in Japan; late that year, Nishiura was killed in a New Jersey traffic accident while touring with DMBQ. Both Shonen Knife and DMBQ performed at a tribute concert for Nishiura that was held in Kyoto in spring 2006, shortly before the U.S. release of Genki Shock. The band continued on with drummer Etsuko Nakanishi and bassist Ritsuko Taneda, releasing a live album and another full-length, Super Group, in 2009. A few months after completing 2010's Free Time, drummer Nakanishi parted ways with the band, to be replaced by Emi Morimoto. After celebrating their 30th anniversary with a concert in New York, the Yamano/Taneda/Morimoto lineup released Pop Tune in 2012 and Overdrive in 2014.
The year 2015 saw more lineup changes for Shonen Knife. In March, founding drummer Atsuko rejoined the band on bass, a reunion that was supposed to be a temporary gig while Ritsuko was away on maternity leave. However, Ritsuko did not return and Atsuko continued with the band. Months later, Morimoto announced her departure and was replaced by Risa Kawano (Brinky). In April 2016, the year of their 35th anniversary, Kawano and the Yamano sisters returned with Shonen Knife's 19th studio album, the '70s rock-inspired Adventure, which featured the single "Jump Into the New World." The following year they delivered the compilation Ready! Set!! Go!!!, a special collection released in conjunction with their tour of Australia. In 2018, the band celebrated their comeback success with ALIVE! in Osaka, a live collection culled from their lengthy list of punk confections. ~ Greg Prato & Neil Z. Weaving a sound well beyond the confines of their bedroom pop beginnings, Singapore-based trio Sobs captures an awkward yet endearing introversion, their music replete with playful melodies that front a dream pop backdrop.
Photo: Joshua Loh
One of Asia’s brightest sparks in indie pop, Sobs have inspired cult followings in the US and Southeast Asia in 2017 with their EP Catflap . On its hit single ‘ Girl ’, unassuming vocals adorn crisp layers of jangling guitars that embody a kitsch, yet undeniably relatable charm.
But as much as Sobs’ songs shimmer with pop immediacy, sombre undertones cloud the buoyant tunes. Frontwoman Celine Autumn’s voice is at once both pastel and haunting as she reminisces on desires and dreams with affecting frankness, drawing comparisons to the likes of Alvvays and Frankie Cosmos.
In this juxtaposition, the band finds itself walking a fine line between the ebullience of high-spirited indie rock and the tense anxiety of restless melancholia. Their debut full-length Telltale Signs further reinforces the contrast with infectiously energetic guitar lines atop of lyrics telling stories of bittersweet love and a yearning for escape.
The last single from four-month serial release.

The Waiit, a band from Taoyuan came in back in July of 2018 for our live session. I had not seen their live show ever, but always enjoyed their self made videos. Their lyrics and style reflect so well their interesting take on our society. AND our first man to use lipstick award was given directly after this show!
