Elephant Gym - Live in THE WORLD - South America

Elephant Gym - Live in THE WORLD - South America

At the end of 2023, Elephant Gym embarked on a year-long world tour, performing 60 shows across 23 countries. The tour featured sold-out performances in cities such as New York, Tokyo, Paris, and Santiago, Chile. The enthusiastic response from fans around the globe and the diverse audience reactions to the performances left a lasting impression on the band.

Elephant Gym has curated a selection of live recordings culled from select performances across four continents during this tour. Through these recordings, the band hopes to share with listeners the unique atmosphere of each respective city’s live performance. These continent-specific live recordings will be released as a series of EPs throughout 2025, culminating in a complete live album.

The first of five live releases from select performances across four continents, Live in THE WORLD - South America shows Elephant Gym at their peak, ripping through two of their catalog classics to an audience that hums along to what Pitchfork once called "spellbinding" instrumental compositions.

Envy - Breathing and dying in this place…

Envy - Breathing and dying in this place…

The debut album that began the three-decade legacy of Japan’s most iconic and influential post-hardcore band is now available for release in North America for the first time ever! Originally released in 1996, Breathing and dying in this place… is Envy at its infancy – all fast-paced riffs, urgent screaming, and fairly straightforward song structures.

With the longest song clocking in at just over 2 minutes, this is obviously a very different band than the one who later made (and continue to make) long-form experimental post-hardcore classics. This is where Envy’s story starts.

Magic Bag - HAPPY TALK

Magic Bag - HAPPY TALK

This 3-piece pop combo plays pop and up-tempo numbers from the '60s and '70s, from British beats to R&B/GS/Japanese music, regardless of Western or Japanese music! The original songs include simple, straightforward bubblegum pop and two melancholic medium numbers.

Both songs feature a Rickenbacker 366 (1968) 12-string guitar, and are inspired by the '60s, but also have the essence of the '80s with a pop good sound! The cover songs are PICO's "I LOVE YOU" (1973) and Olive's "Come On...! (1970), and Tomonori Okazaki's "Kaze no Ute" (1973), three songs in total. All are pop, groovy, up-tempo numbers.

Helicopter - Pan & Ping Pong - The Best of Helicopter (1993 - 1999)

Helicopter - Pan & Ping Pong - The Best of Helicopter (1993 - 1999)

Nagoya's electronic instrumental band "ALL OF THE WORLD". Mr. Ichiro Yamaguchi (Sakanaction) said that he loves them. The legendary trio "Helicopter" was a band whose members had been active before the "ALL OF THE WORLD". Their tracks will release from the Galaxy Train.
A famous critic Mr. Atsushi Sasaki said, "Helicopter is an answer from Nagoya to the US Lo-Fi movement in the early 90s such as Lou Barlow and Half Japanese."

All these 11 tracks (+4 bonus tracks) were chosen from the huge number of home-recording-tapes left in their activity period from 1993 to 1999. It consists of fresh scum/junk sounds by their high school days, and melodic post-rock style sounds that can be said as prototypes of the "ALL OF THE WORLD". These experimental spirit and humor sense that anticipated the era will surely apply also to the present music scene.

Manic Sheep - Invisible

Manic Sheep - Invisible

If you could go back ten years, what changes would you make? In 2024, when time travel and parallel worlds have become standard plot devices, Manic Sheep is set to release a new work, confronting their younger selves in a non-fictional narrative. The raw recording files of the tracks had been stored on former guitarist Hung Yu’s hard drive for a decade, capturing the intense year before his departure from the band—when he, vocalist Chris Lo, and drummer White Wu pushed each other to their creative limits. A decade later, the original trio has reworked these old tracks, merging their past selves with the present.
Stay tuned for more updates on the new album.

An alternative artist inspired by the previous decades. Nostalgia and sadness are often associated with her works– this has encouraged her to explore different genres such as grunge, progressive rock, garage rock. The "alternative" side had such an impact on her as a person that she is more comfortable to separate herself from the norm and from the current indie scene in the Philippines.
The musician visualizes, writes, records, produces and releases her tracks on her own from the comfort of her own home.

Elektrokohle is a Noise-Post-punk trio based in Berlin and comprises members from Italy, Germany, and Brazil, namely Suzan Flag (bass), Mr. Cigarette Butt (vocals, synth), and Mona Manie (guitar). Pulling their inspirations from ’80s Punk, Noise, Krautrock, DarkSurf, and Punk-Blues the band defines their music as “Cold Punk”. Sparse bilingual vocals, motorik beats, industrial clangs, screeching and echoing guitar and a hypnotic synth, all amount to an intoxicating mix. The band is known for intense, chaotic and energetic live performances and their music pushes the boundaries of what can be, yet remains deeply rooted in the raw, gloomy underground Berlin sound.

TsuShiMaMiRe are a legendary Japanese rock trio formed in 1999 featuring Mari (vocals, guitar), Yayoi (bass, bv)
These girls have captivated audiences around the world for over 23 years, spanning thousands of live performances, 15 US tours, and 20 full length releases. Among many other achievements, their music has been featured on TV, film, animation, and video games.
TsuShiMaMiRe’s musical style ranges from hardcore noise to introspective indie rock, with traces of heavy funk disco and pop sentimentality.  Mari’s quirky lyrics question social conventions and the anxieties of everyday life, rebellion, and love. Her vocals excel in melodic expressivity, ranging from child-like wonder to tragic despair.  Yayoi’s groove is like that of a vengeful banshee in the throes of passion, suddenly pivoting from the stoic determination of a samurai in battle to the elegance and light-heartedness of a Japanese house cat. Meanwhile drummer Maiko locks down a constant punk backdrop, rallying the front pair but keeping them from toppling over the edge into insanity. The ferocity of these three warrior princesses culminates in a live show that is simultaneously upliftingly theatrical and brutally honest. http://tsushimamire.com/en/profile/

Coming Up Roses - Coming Up Roses

Coming Up Roses - Coming Up Roses

Coming Up Roses' eponymous 3rd EP is their first since the indie/alt rock band's relocation to London, UK. It tells a story of reconciling relationships and the inter-personal connections that we have with our friends and family around us.

Now consisting of original members from Singapore Emily Sera (vocals, bass) and Darius Oon (guitar) and the addition of UK members Charlie Wilson (guitar) and Caleb Blake (drums), the quartet's new EP is a representation of the shared experiences of adolescence - no matter where one has grown up.

On opening track 'Don't Let It Break Your Heart', lead singer Emily delivers a message to a loved one who is struggling with the trails and tribulations of life. She says: "Life is hard and sometimes people we love get overwhelmed by life or mental health issues. It was really heartbreaking seeing our loved ones change and struggle. We wanted to write a song to let them know that we see them for who they are and that their struggles doesn’t change our love for them."

Second single 'Back The Way We Came' is a song written much earlier which the band rediscovered during rehearsals with their 2 new members. Fittingly, the song carries a reconciliatory meaning - a reminder to the self of reassurance and self-forgiveness in the face of difficulty.

Sonically, this EP sees Coming Up Roses venturing into new waters, with the inclusion of the acoustic-folk track 'Silence' while the band's shoegaze influences fully culminate with closing track 'Why'.

The EP was recorded and produced by Joshua Rumble (BCNR, Florence Welch) and mixed by fellow Singaporean Caesar Edmunds (Beach House, Queens of the Stone Age).

While Coming Up Roses have been around for a while now, it seems that their flowers are just beginning to bloom as they take their first steps into London.

Les Rallizes Dénudés - 屋根裏 YaneUra Sept. '80

Les Rallizes Dénudés - 屋根裏 YaneUra Sept. '80

While Les Rallizes Dénudés’ YaneUra Oct. ‘80 (DRFT13) was being prepared for release, a mysterious tape was unearthed. Discovered amid the piles of recordings left behind by frontman Takashi Mizutani, the undated cassette contained no recording info, and was referred to as “Unknown” during the archival process. There was no mistaking the sound that was heard on the tape, however: the twin guitar interplay between Mizutani and Fujio Yamaguchi, the former Murahachibu guitarist whose addition to the Rallizes ushered in a new era for the band.
This particularly clean recording was initially thought to be a forgotten studio recording, as corroborated by ex-members and others close to the band. Ultimately, upon further research and meticulous listening, it was determined that the tape in fact contained a board recording of a set played at YaneUra in Shibuya, Tokyo, on September 11, 1980. The raw intensity of this performance feels far removed from the tight sound heard on YaneUra Oct. ‘80, which occurred just a month later.
Fittingly titled YaneUra Sept. ‘80, this album begins with “Flame of Ice,” which heats up considerably as the song reaches the middle point. Then, coming down like an avalanche are wilder than usual versions of “Reapers of the Night” and “The Night, Assassin’s Night,” followed by “The Last One.”
YaneUra Sept. ‘80 captures a flashpoint in the band’s Fujio-era lineup, which ultimately lasted only half a year or so. At the same time, it is bursting with the bottomless potential that the 1980s Les Rallizes Dénudés possessed deep within.
releases February 1, 2025

Since their inception in Kyoto in 1967, Les Rallizes Dénudés has gained an almost mythical status the world over with their unrelenting psychedelia and pure sonic assault. Led by the enigmatic Takashi Mizutani, the Rallizes remained an underground cult phenomenon throughout their three decade existence, and beyond.

Linying - House Mouse

Linying - House Mouse

The latest body of work from Linying, House Mouse is the sound of an artist rediscovering the joy of creating with total abandon. In an evolution of her acclaimed debut album There Could Be Wreckage Here—a 2022 release made with musicians like former Death Cab for Cutie guitarist Chris Walla—the Singapore-born singer/songwriter follows her intuition toward a kaleidoscopic form of dream-pop elevated by her enchanting voice (an element she’s previously brought to her breakout single “Sticky Leaves” and to a series of massively successful collaborations in the electronic world). Both effervescent and emotionally intimate, the result is proof of the wild magic that comes from letting go and leaning into your most unfettered impulses.

Written by Naoko Yutani, Tomoyuki Watanabe, Keita Kishimoto

Played by
Naoko Yutani (Vocal, Guitar)
Tomoyuki Watanabe (Vocal, Guitar)
Keita Kishimoto (Vocal, Drums)
Kentaro Kikuchi (Bass Guitar)
Takanori Ito (Guitar)

Japanese indie rock trio ODDLY release their debut LP ‘Swerve’ via Damnably on 12th February 2025, following on from their EP ‘Odd Man Out’ released in 2022. Their new album will be available digitally, with a limited edition 12” purple/pink colour 'eco-mix' or cream colour BIO VINYL pressing on vinyl.

ODDLY is an indie rock/odd rock trio from Kyoto, Japan. They have been influenced by several genres of modern rock and like to jumble them up. The members were previously known as the shoegazey quartet Browned Butter alongside a bassist. When the bassist departed, they decided to embrace the bass-less, twin guitar and drum sound, and open up genre-wise, ODDLY was born. Although now based in Kyoto, each member hails from other cities originally, and they are viewed as outsiders in their local scene musically, partly because they sing in English.
