Year 21XX, NEO TOKYO
The story begins at an old theater, a night before it closes down. That night, when the manager was preparing and cleaning his theater for the close down, he found an old can of film at the basement. The manager was curious of what’s inside the film, so he set the film in an old fashioned projector and started playing it. On the screen, there he found was an old animation movie which made a huge hit a long time ago, a story about big adventure of a band who escaped a circus tent. As manager got more and more into the movie, suddenly he saw a sparkling soul swinging out of the screen and filled the whole theater with a dazzling light. Slowly recovering from the blindness, he was shocked to find these four strange men standing in front of the screen who never existed a minute ago. There was no doubt that these four was the band he was watching in the animation, “INNOSENT in FORMAL”. They were so upset that their only audience was this skinny, crumpled, miserable old man, in spite of the decades they spent inside the rusted can. “Alright” said one of the man. “Why don’t we travel around this world and see what we can do just like those good old days huh?” INNOSENT in FORMAL’s new adventure has just started.

Deer (Mx) -Portraits EP · 2018

Portraits is a serie of imaginary stories that emerge from our experience as Hong Kong residents. It embraces contrasting characters... a middle age man, a six year old kid. Each song represents one piece of a big puzzle: the face of what Hong Kong is to us. Life here is a drama of an ancestral life structure struggling with the western post modern crisis. We start with a dissertation about immigration and we close with the face of the ambition. The sound of this EP glides from nostalgic to dramatic moments, all dressed with the strident electronic layers and the glimpse of string sections. We hope you enjoy it.

We recorded this Ep in Taipei, and it will be released in a physical and digital version next year.

Ruby Fatale - Pale (demo)

Ruby Fatale - Pale (demo)

Drenched in the unique atmosphere of stoner/doom/glitch music and the violent aesthetics, Ruby always grabs idea from literature, geometric figures and her own experiences.

She also concretizes ideas, desires, pieces of memory to dedicate sound particles which are content in specified frequent, and put the particles into her music randomly. When she performs, she likes to tell a story with an industrial and cold sound, creating a anxious atmosphere. Incidentally, put some beautiful sounds from instruments in the cold, harsh background. Ruby always arranges her set dramatically to lead audiences passing through dynamic/static situation and ancient/modern ages.

Sofya Wang - Need Ya

Sofya Wang - Need Ya

Sofya is a singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Los Angeles. A classically trained pianist and cellist, she taught herself songwriting and music production upon deferring from Berklee College of Music last year.

Growing up as a first generation Chinese-American, Sofya unapologetically defied tradition to pursue and share a vulnerable and true version of herself through music & by being an active, vocal member of the LGBT community.

Her unabashed exploration of her sexuality, humanity, and own coming of age is reflected in her engaging lyricism and cheeky melodies.

Sofya straddles the line between youthful, flirtatious vibrance and insightful gravitas through her effortless vocals and hypnotic soundscapes.

Sofya’s first single, BOYS ASIDE, and upcoming EP give audiences a refreshing and unique twist on what it means to be an authentic pop artist.

Japanese Breakfast - Boyish (Official Video)

Japanese Breakfast - Boyish (Official Video)

Boyish from Soft Sounds From Another Planet. Out now on Dead Oceans: https://japanesebreakfast.lnk.to/softsounds
Directed by Michelle Zauner
Director of Photography: Adam Kolodny

A solo moniker for Philadelphia musician Michelle Zauner, Japanese Breakfast began as a month-long, song-a-day writing challenge during a break from her indie rock band Little Big League. The result was 2013's June, an intimate set of melodic, electric guitar-accompanied lo-fi tunes issued on cassette by Ranch Records. She continued to write solo and with her band, with Japanese Breakfast's self-released Where Is My Great Big Feeling? and the Seagreen Records cassette American Sound both following in the summer of 2014 before Little Big League's Tropical Jinx arrived that October. With a varied palette including markedly bigger, synth-boosted sounds that bridged lo-fi and indie pop, Japanese Breakfast's Yellow K Records debut, Psychopomp, was released in the spring of 2016. The album dealt with the emotional fallout of her mother's death, and was, in Zauner's mind, the one and only Japanese Breakfast record. She soon changed her mind, signed with Dead Oceans (which re-released Psychopomp to a wider audience), and began work on another album with the help of producer Craig Hendrix, who had also helmed Little Big League's debut album. The pair played the bulk of the instruments on the album and went for a much bigger sound, taking the project out of the bedroom and into a much bigger space. An expansive mix from indie pop alchemist Jorge Elbrecht made it sound even larger as Zauner delved into themes like grief, dead pop stars, outer space, and moving on. Soft Sounds from Another Planet was released by Dead Oceans in July of 2017. ~ Marcy Donelson, Rovi

Lyrics〉 Ok, fair and square, You couldn't really let it go that you got a measly start, And you didn't want to know how you'd end up If you didn't hit the ground so hard All your records, boy, that's alright If only they were just a little vintage vinyl But clean up boy; life's no toy You were seventeen When you crashed ashore in a shipwreck And you couldn't really climb out the bottle ‘Cause you only learned to neck it, didn't yah? Your records, boy, that's alright If only they were just a little vintage vinyl But clean up boy; life's no toy Clean up boy; life's no toy Aren't you precious in your nirvana tee Aren't you precious but your words don't keep All your promises you couldn't keep All your promises You were speeding 'long the river in a hot-wired truck Runnin’ on the last of the poor man's luck Tearin’ through the night of your own demise But the copper was a-comin’, the copper was a-comin’ The woman she was lost in a suburb dream Thinkin’ ‘bout the times that you'd gone clean While you're slippin’ through the cracks of your own demise The copper was a-comin’, the copper was a-comin’ Record boy, run for it You're a record boy, so run for it.

Vanessa Peters - Lucky (radio edit)

Vanessa Peters - Lucky (radio edit)

Vanessa Peters is a wandering songwriting storyteller with an uncanny knack for melodies so catchy the listener might miss the subtleties in her poetry. But the stories she tells from her many years on the road are made unforgettable with her uniquely clever turns of phrase and unpretentious delivery. Her writing is that of a novelist - sometimes clear and direct, sometimes relying on a skillful turn of phrase to drive home a point - but always with multiple layers of both metaphor and substance.

As a performing musician, Vanessa has played well over 1000 shows in a dozen or so countries, earning her reputation as “a true poet and a brilliant singer/songwriter” and receiving accolades from abroad and in her hometown of Dallas (nominated “Best Folk Artist” – Dallas Observer). She continues to tour the US and in Europe, where she has a strong fan base thanks to the albums she made with her former Italian band (Ice Cream on Mondays) and the hundreds of shows she has played in Italy, the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium, Denmark, and elsewhere in Europe.

Vanessa’s latest album, “The Burden of Unshakeable Proof,” is still picking up rave reviews: “fully realized, written with elegance and imagination,” “a masterclass in probing matters of the heart,” “10 gorgeously sculpted tracks, a blissful shuffling of folk, pop and jazz bound together by Peters’s peerless voice.” The album finished the year on a number of “best of 2016” lists, including No Depression’s “Alt Country and Beyond,” and has received spins on over 100 stations across the USA and in Europe. Burden is the first album Vanessa has released on vinyl through a partnership with the indie label Palo Santo Records.

Lyrics - Lucky
I’m still getting used to this place
I closed my eyes and blew away every trace
of anything I might know or recognize
and it’s a little strange to be somewhere
where I have no past to be constantly aware of

and as far as they’re concerned I have nothing
but an empty road behind me and cloudless sky above

so I keep a lucky lire in my pocket
to remind me that money's just a fad
it's just something that we all go through
it's not the object, it's just a thing we had

sometimes this pain just squeezes
it's a like a fist around my heart
and I can't breathe or get my motor to start
I'm at the light in neutral
in need of a good shove
or a friendly face, something that looks like love

but some days it feels like there's nothing
but an empty road before me and thunder from above

so I keep a lucky shoelace in my pocket
to remind me to keep my laces tied
to go through all the motions
of getting dressed to face the day
even when it's terrible outside

starting over all again, when will this ever end
is there a finger on the scales?
'cause there goes the gun, I'm at the line again
another race to run, but someone has to win

so I keep a lucky hairband in my pocket
to remind me to tie my hair up tight
to put on my best shoes, suit up to win
knowing I'm the dark horse but hoping that I might

Fazerdaze - Shoulders

Fazerdaze - Shoulders

Shoulders - Lyrics
waking soft, waking slow
fading into focus
every breath, every pulse
holding in the moment
every fall, every rise and falling of your shoulders
and I’m trying not to try so hard, for you
I’m trying not to try so hard, for you
ooh, for you
ooh, for you
wake me soft, wake me slow
fade me into focus
every breath, every pulse
I hold you in the moment
and I’m trying not to try so hard, for you
I’m trying not to try so hard, for you
ooh, for you
ooh, for you

from Morningside, released May 5, 2017
Fazerdaze at Red Bull Studios - © Scott Sinton

The brainchild of Amelia Murray, Fazerdaze began as a string of bedroom recordings created late in the night, emerging fully-formed in 2014 as her debut eponymous EP. A succinct collection of intimate, beautifully produced dream-pop written, produced and performed by Murray herself. It’s a significant first outing for the young New Zealander with layers of softly crunching guitars swirling over consistently driving drum machines, and sparse electronica.

The EP quickly took flight, receiving critical acclaim from blogs and publications around the globe. NME described it as ‘elegant dream pop’, while US blog HillyDilly exclaimed how ‘Fazerdaze transports us to a warm, optimistic sonic space with her glistening synths and mellow acoustic guitar strums’. NZ’s Sunday Star Times listed it in their ‘Best of 2014’ spread, hailing it as a ‘versatile collection of near-perfect pop songs...’

Since the EP release, Fazerdaze and her band have shifted to another level. Opening the 2015 New Zealand Silver Scroll Awards with her cover of Marlon Williams’ Dark Child as well as supporting and touring with international acts like Unknown Mortal Orchestra and Connan Mockasin. This year Fazerdaze toured the UK, became a genuine highlight at Australia’s BIGSOUND music conference and recently took part in the the 2016 Red Bull Music Academy in Montreal.

With a full length album set for release in may 2017, this is just the beginning for Amelia Murray and Fazerdaze.www.groenland.com

Pauline Andrès - Let's Be Outlaws

Pauline Andrès - Let's Be Outlaws

Born in France a coal miner's daughter, Pauline Andres made a name for herself with a sweet and smoky voice that “perfectly conveys the thoughts and observations of an old soul walking home at closing time.”

Her nonchalant style tastefully serves an inclination for the ordinary suffering and every day disappointments combined with subtle literary references.

The songstress recently settled in Music City after spending 5 years in Berlin, where she recorded the accidental EP 'Fuck You French Girl' and 2 LPs: 'All Them Ghosts' and 'The Heart Breaks'. Both records helped her build a reputation as a unique lyricist and vocalist.

Her work has been described as “Stunning” (PopDose) and “Smoky Americana” (Pop Matters).

After the highly positive reception of 'The Heart Breaks' in the US, she decided to join “her” people, in the American South. This decision gave birth to her 3rd LP, to be released early 2018. Andres wrote and produced this new record with the help of bigger guns in the industry to achieve a new sound, making this collection of songs her most approachable work to date.

Lyrics - Let's Be Outlaws
Oh darling my darling
Let’s get on our way
Oh darling my darling
Tell me what would you say
If we’d hit the road
If we’d quit our jobs
Let’s break a little law
Let’s feel a little joy

Oh darling my darling
You know anything goes
So darling my darling
Let’s be outlaws

Oh darling my darling
This ain’t the life we chose
Forced to make a living
All the while we grow old

Oh darling my darling
Let’s turn the tables
Let’s get back on the road
You know I’m willing and I’m able
Please darling my darling
Let’s be something more
Darling my darling
Let’s be outlaws

Let’s be outlaws

Lyrics- “Knives”
If I should fall
If I should fall
If I should fall
If I should fall, don’t let them wake me up
If I should fall, don’t let them cut me up
With knives so dull
They cut you up to wear you out, out, out, out
They cut you up to bring you down, down, down
With knives so dull

With knives so dull, they cut you up, with knives so dull
With knives so dull, they cut you up, with knives so dull

If I should fall, don’t let them wake me up
If I should fall, don’t let them cut me up
With knives so dull
They cut you up to break you down, down, down, down, down
They cut you up to bleed you out, out, out
With knives so dull

With knives so dull, they cut you up, with knives so dull
With knives so dull, they cut you up, with knives so dull

If I should fall, if I should fall
If I should fall, if I should fall
If I should fall, if I should fall
If I should fall, if I should fall
(They cut you up with knives so dull)
They cut you up to break you down, down, down, down, down
They cut you up to bleed you out, out, out
With knives so dull

With knives so dull, they cut you up, with knives so dull
With knives so dull, they cut you up, with knives so dull
If I should fall
If I should fall
If I should fall
If I should fall
They cut you up with knives so dull.

A rocker from Austin, Texas, who embodies D.I.Y. Industrial/Post-Punk production, le destroy fearlessly delivers riveting lyrics with a sultry swagger provoking emotion using aggression, rich tones, and moody hooks. Kristina Olson, Creator/Producer of all things le destroy, has been in the studio since 2017 crafting the sound and creative direction of le destroy. “When I started this project I wanted to be open minded about my approach and not be married to a specific sound or end goal. I just wanted to create and see what happens”, says Olson. le destroy isn’t the first music project for this industry veteran, she’s the former founder/frontwoman of Kristina and The Dolls (previously the Paper Dolls).

Indeed, le destroy is stoking Olson’s creative fire as she mesmerizes listeners with her hauntingly serpentine like vocals on “Knives” (off the upcoming EP, Slaughter). “It’s my passion to create and share compelling art that pushes people think and feel, even if it’s uncomfortable. There’s a lot of music these days, especially in the alternative rock genre, that feels very safe to me and its lack of depth is hard to digest. I miss the sonic danger and rage.”

The second release off the slaughter EP entitled “Nous Detruisons” (french for “we destroy”), is a merciless commentary on the state of the world and the decay of social fibers under the current media outlets, social or otherwise, and the powers that be. If you, like Olson, miss the sonic danger and rage, then you’re in luck. Nous Detruisons does not disappoint.

le destroy will be releasing the debut EP by the end of 2018. No live shows are currently on the schedule as Olson’s finishing up work in the studio. “I love the live energy and aspect of music. I’m very focused on wrapping up work in the studio before I switch gears, but I can’t wait to start playing live again.” Prior to her work with le destroy, Olson played festivals such as the Sunset Strip Music Festival (with bands such as the Smashing Pumpkins) and the Sundance Film Festival (opening for Macy Gray). For now, fans will have to wait for Olson’s jarringly energetic live performances while she wraps up work in the studio.
