Steady Holiday is the solo vehicle for Los Angeles singer/songwriter Dre Babinski’s deeply personal and cinematic storytelling. Characterized by a featherlight voice and sweeping strings (played by Babinski herself), Steady Holiday creates music that’s nostalgic for a bygone era.
Babinski spent over a decade collaborating in several bands and performing as a touring multi-instrumentalist. Steady Holiday was born with her 2016 debut, Under The Influence, produced by Gus Seyffert (Roger Waters, Beck, Bedouine). What followed were opportunities supporting artists including Mitski and Khruangbin, multiple appearances at Coachella, and an endorsement with Yamaha Guitars, before going back in the studio with Seyffert for her politically-observant follow up, Nobody’s Watching.
Babinski is now set to release her third album on Feb 5, titled Take The Corners Gently. It’s a call for acceptance, compassion and humility, documenting the lessons learned from Babinski's experiences with illness in her family. “It’s been a period of extreme uncertainty. I wanted to create a time-capsule of this moment, and of the wisdom that I gained from it.”
Enlisting the help of producer Blake Sennett (Rilo Kiley), Babinski traveled to Nashville to record with the same ethos that guided her through the tumultuous time in which the songs were written. The result is an album that sounds both intentional and spontaneous. In an increasingly complex world, this is Steady Holiday keeping it simple.
