Hazy Sour Cherry - Bell of the beginning

Tokyo based indie-pop quartet Hazy Sour Cherry return with an original Christmas song, and a cover, as an Xmas gift for fans and to cement their new line-up.

This release follows on from the dazzlingly 2019 debut "Tour De Tokyo", 2020's Covid cover of The Stooges' "No Fun", danceable "Hot Summer Night" and cover of The Velvet Underground's "After Hours".

"Bell of the beginning" is a brand new song written by Hazy Sour Cherry.
"Cold, cold winter" is a cover version of the song originally performed by The Pixies Three and written by Dave White & John Madara.

The band welcome new bassist Chiba on these recordings. Chiba drum's in post-punk band M.A.Z.E and wasn't a bassist before, but worked hard to learn the instrument for Hazy.
His favourite food is fried rice.

The band say:
"These are our Xmas gift for fans, and the first recordings of new hazy. “Bell of the Beginning” is our new song with Lyrics by Jun & Tsuzumi & Karin. This song is about little love failure. “Cold, cold winter” by The Pixies Three (released in 1963). We try to play Candypants version."

About Hazy Sour Cherry:
Formed in 2018 with vocalist Tsuzumi (OCHA∞ME) and guitarist Jun (HATEMAN, Gorillaor︎). Drummer Karin (The Highmarts), and bassist Poppo Professor joined later. Poppo went on sabbatical in late 2020 and Chiba (M.A.Z.E.) has just taken up bass duties. All members are in their mid-twenties, and met in the underground music scene in the Shimokitazawa area of Tokyo. Hazy Sour Cherry are bigs fans of BMX Bandits, Young Fresh Fellows, Go-Kart Mozart, Raspberries (JP), Firestarter (JP), as well as The Beatles and Rolling Stones and their Damnably label mates Say Sue Me.

Earlier this year, the band performed as part of the Damnably online showcase for SXSW 2021, and 'Wales Goes Pop' virtual festival, and have been playing socially distanced shows around Japan as it opened up more post Olympics. They recently finished recording their new album which will be releasing on Damnably in 2022.
